Self-care is a term that has been tossed around haphazardly alot lately and still, people don’t understand the concept of self-care and the benefits that having a self-care routine (preferably daily) will do for your quality of life. Many people, when you mention self-care, automatically think of a million-dollar spa, going on an expensive vacation, or buying the most expensive products in the store (bubble baths, shampoos, etc) as how you experience self-care. Self-care is much simpler and cheaper than these beliefs, however, before sharing some self-care ideas (that are cheap and easy to do at your home), let’s talk about the benefits of putting together a self-care routine.

Individuals who established a self-care routine can improve their physical health, reduce stress and anxiety, boost their self-esteem, protect their mental health, and lead to them having better relationships. There is an old saying that goes, “you can’t take care of anyone/anything without taking care of yourself first.” Therefore in order to be your ultimate self in every relationship and opportunity why wouldn’t you put together a routine that takes care of you? It is pretty simple to put a routine together, and as stated in the beginning it can be as cheap as you want it to be and you don’t have to leave your house. Below is a non-exhaustive list of self-care ideas, but remember practicing self-care is doing something that you love and that brings you joy.

Self-Care Ideas

  1. Turning off all technology and reading a book.
  2. Make yourself a nice hot cup of tea.
